Safe Haven in Carthage

Once again we have been diverted by a storm and have landed in Africa

I meet my mother. She was disguises as a hunter for some reason and told me of the history of Dido and Carthage. I recounted my flight from Troy, voyage for Italia and the hardships on the way. As she turned to leave I suddenly knew who she was. The beautiful Venus, my dear mother! Why would she appear before me in disguise? Could we not have clasped hands, embraced each other?

This city is marvellous, the Tyrians hard at work building, ploughing, dredging the harbour and laying foundations. They are lucky; their walls are rising up now! At the mighty temple of Juno we found amazing reliefs of the battles fought at Troy. Atreus’ sons and Priam, Noble Hector and savage Achilles. There we meet Queen Dido who welcomed us warmly and proclaimed sacrifices and a magnificent feast.

That night she asken me question upon question about Priam, Hector, Achillies and Helen. Then urged me to tell her of the Final hours of Troy and out exiled wanderings. I guess this “blog” thing can in handy.
