Again we started to create our new city and everything was going well. But a pestilence
attacked us, rotting our bodies and crops.
Suggestions were made to return to Delos and consult Apollo
again. But then one night the Penates, our house hold gods, appeared and spoke
to me of my anguish.
“These are not the shores Apollo of Delos urged. He never
commanded you to settle here on Crete. There is a country - the Greeks call it
Hesperia, Land of the West, and ancient land, might in war and rich in soil.
Hear lies our true home. The Dardanus was born there Iasius. Fathers, founders
of our people. Seek out the town of Corythus, Jove denies you the fields of
Crete."
I awoke suddenly and rushed to tell me father of my vision and he realized his mistake. At once we set sail, fired up in our hearts. We had discovered our destined home!
